It leads open models on math, STEM and coding, trailing only Gemini 3.1 Pro on world knowledge.

DeepSeek keeps compressing the cost of frontier-adjacent capability, pressuring every commercial vendor’s pricing. Use it as a benchmark in negotiations and for self-hosted, cost-sensitive workloads — but route China-origin open weights through your security and governance review first.
This Week’s Structural Trends
Sovereignty is now a product category, not a talking point. Anthropic’s export-driven suspension, the Cohere–Aleph Alpha tie-up and Mistral’s EU pitch show model access is increasingly governed by geopolitics. Buyers should treat jurisdiction, export exposure and data residency as first-class procurement criteria.
The agent battle moved into the apps you already pay for. Perplexity, xAI, Mistral and OpenAI all pushed agents into Microsoft 365, Bedrock, Databricks and the IDE this week. Distribution through existing contracts — not standalone chatbots — is becoming the real enterprise wedge.
